The an-1x is one of the best sounding ANALOG synths I've owned: smooth strings, fat basses and awesome control - the touch-ribbon is extremely responive and has a very solid feeld.

Really the only analog synths I've owned which beat SOME of the sounds of the an-1x are the Elka Synthex (amazing strings and choirs), the Moog the Rogue (fatty bass) and the Korg MS-20 (for HP-swept effects).

For the price, this is awesome. Easily the best analog emulation I've heard, including the Clavia synths and Roland JP.

A classic indeed! Great synth, you can make old skool, and new sounds with this one. Get it if you can find it.

Best synth purchase I ever made! got mine from sam ash(for $469.00!he he he!)and I'm glad I did because now everybody wants one and there's none to be had. I've had it for six months and I'm still finding cool stuff to do with it.I just got an RM1X and they are a perfect match:AN1x for analog sounds and cool evolving pads,RM1x for it's kick ass sequencer(goodbye cakewalk!)and 700+ built in sounds(good bye korg!).Anyway it's a great synth and if you can find one,buy it and keep it. it's an instant classic.

I've had the AN1X for about 6 months now, and every day I find myself marveling at it. I really wanted to wait until I knew the synth before commenting on it, and here it is: a perfect 5. I wouldn't trade this baby for anything.

Has 12db/oct 18db/oct and 24db/oct filters, lowpass, bighpass, bandpass, bandeliminate, all with resonance (which i haven't seen commented yet). 2 oscillators, one with sync-function which makes a wave withing the wave - there are 3 settings for the inner waves, and can be controlled with modulation via one of the two LFO's. The waveforms can also be softened, and when softened 100% it sounds like a sinewave. The sounds you can make are pretty good (or "okay" to say the least) and the interface is not bad at all, but there ARE better ones. (Nord Lead for example) hm, what else...? the keyboard it'sself is very good quality and plays quite nice. It's a 4 out of 5 :) Even more because of it's price.
