The AN1x sounds better than many synths that cost twice as much. It really is the best value out there IMHO for a VA Synth that has some real balls. Sound is such a matter of taste, but I gotta say this baby rules in my studio. I love it. And I have a lotta cool gear too. The AN1x will be a keeper for me. Its perhaps not for everyone, but it sure kicks ass!!! Peace!

It is still one of the best Virtual Analog Synths ever. There are new toys out there, some very impressive. But the AN1X when in production was not only cheap, but Imppresive in Sound Quality. It is a PHATT !! It is BLUE !! And SOUNDS GREAT !!

This synth stals the show! It goes before first line easily. It is one (or two) voice only, but what a quality!

Well, I just got my An1x yesterday. I was greatly assisted in my decision to purchase the AN1X by this forum. I'd only played it once before, a year ago, and liked it but didn't have the cash. Then I started reading reviews of the 8080 in synth mags and started thinking that might be the thing, but was not impressed when I checked it out. It sounded like the 505 to me. So I just stayed with my K2500 and tried to make that sound analog. The problem is the Kurzweil will do anything...if you conceived it beforehand and programmed it. For live work, there is nothing like dedicated knobs, which I now have! I bid $550 for an AN1X I found on ebay, but it went to $700 and I didn't want to go that high. I got lucky and a guy from New Jersey called emailed me after seeing me bid and offered to sell his for $500. We COD'd it, we're both happy, done. This thing is fun, bottom line! I was very pleased to see that you can push the dedicated knobs to avoid sudden jumps in the sound.The sound of this synth is just beautiful, and programming it is much less intimidating than with the K2. I have a question: how do I download sounds? I've downloaded stuff for the Kurz, but it has a floppy drive so that was a no brainer. I have, or rather my roommate has both macs and pcs here in the studio, and I have a MacMan Midi interface. Vot to do?
