Bought the DX50XG second hand from a friend ( $ 60 ! ) and didnt expected too much ...... until I played my favourite MIDI files with the board. Hell , whats that !!!! This little PC card offers sounds you would expect from a " much " bigger workstation-like synth ! Great Drums ( I like the analog kit ) , good basses and tons of more. And.... you can edit your own sounds. If you dont belive me...visit a DB50XG owner and ask him to play the XG version midi file of Hendrix " Vodoo Chile ". Then you will KNOW what I mean.

Every time that I hear one of my friend's Tracks made with this DB

I am supprised again and again about the capabilities it can give you.

The analogue simulation is quite good although the resonance filter

is too plastic if you ask me.

Overall, for a DB it's the best thing to date.

Satoru a hobbyist user from USA writes:
I bought one last summer for $112.. good price considering I bought it almost 9 months ago.. Now you can get one for $70 or maybe less! the XG sounds great, the XG edit complements the DB quite well if you have the editor. I still don't have a keyboard, so that is the major problem... so all I need is one MIDI keyboard with velocity and aftertouch and that would really solve some problems for me. but make sure you have a good soundcard to start with... But the new Yamaha WF100XG or WF200XG seems to be lot better..and costs less than SW1000XG..Both of them are PCI soundcards...Yet the new WF has 64 note Poly by itself..but you also get the S-YXG50 soft XG synth which has 128 poly.. And it will implement the VL soft synth in the future... So DB will do great for now, but WF will be the future
