I just sold my Roland V-Drums and replaced them with the DD-5. Boy, what a difference! Wait until my bandmates hear the phat sounds I can get out of this thing! Why, the conga sound alone is worth the $20 I paid for this wonder of electronic innovation! :)

DAVID VESEL a part-time user from Saint Louis, Missouri, USA writes:
The only thing that serious musicians should be using this unit for is as the absolute least expensive MIDI drum pads to be had. I bought mine for $40 on eBay. It would be nice for pad routings to be saved when it's powered off, but hey waddayawant? It's a toy, darn it! Leave it on all the time. :-)

As for an instrument in itself, it's pretty much useless. The sounds inside it are embarassingly bad.

But if you want to experiment with a MIDI percussion controller and you can't afford an Octapad, get one of these. For the sheer fun factor, if nothing else.

I use my DD-5 in a band for the hand claps sound. I run it through a reverb processor to enhance the sound. PS: yamaha's newer stuff is top of the line.

Got mine on ebay for $36.00. This is one cool unit, for the price you cannot beat if for cheapo midi triggers. The end of playing drum parts on the keyboard!
