Yeah! These are the cheapest MIDI triggers around! I am borrowing this from a band mate to use with a MIDI sound module. The only thing that kinda sucks it that whenever I turn it off, it loses the drum mappings that i set for it and i have to re-map the darm thing all over again... oh well, they are cheap and sturdy and i can beat the shit out of them and not have to worry about returning the thing broken. As far as it's own sounds... pure crap my friends. the bass drum sounds like someone is punching a wall. cymbals sound like wet farts and the rhythms are weak. there is a cool thing about the rhythms though... you can cut out one or more of the drums from the beat by hitting the pad of that sound and start/stop at the same time... pretty cool if you want to JAM along with the HI-HAT going or something. i am making no sense... i done usually like Yamaha stuff, casio's are the way to roam!

This thing is the cheapest MIDI drum triggers I have ever seen. You can map it to any synth mod or drum mod/machine. Use the assign and assign + tempo the change the MIDI out notes. I have seen these things at pawn shops for $20.00 to $60.00, usually $20.00. Not bad for playing drums into a sequencer a little at a time. It's also built good too with a big thick piece of metal under the pads. Mine was given to me by a freind who owned a pawn shop and between me and whoever else had it it's had the shit beat out of the pads and still works great. Good old Yamaha quality.
PS-What with this new cheap feeling plastic stuff Yamaha has out??

All I can say about the DD5 is this:
I've had this drum machine since I was 7 years old and still think it's cool.
