I have had this keyboard for at least 3 years now. Being a music fanatic and majoring in music at the University of Idaho, I have yet come across anything that I would take over my PSR 630. Not only do I write and compose my own music in coordination with my new Cakewalk program, I use this keyboard to perform professionally on and off campus. With its realistic acoustic voices, wonderful synth/mixing pads, and dynamic contrasts in rhythems, it has made me a well known musician locally. Light weight, and running off of 6 D sized batteries, I can take it with me on trips away from a AC power outlet and still have the wonderful booming sound of its great sounding stand up bass. A remarkable instrument that never fails to live up to my or my audiences expectations. A great factor about it is its floppy A: drive.I have about 5 disks that carry over 150 songs all written on the PSR 630. And even though I have had this keyboard for 3 years. Their is still new features that keep popping up about it that only amaze me more at what it is truely capable of. Yamaha,you cooked up something awesome here and made this "Starving College Musician" a very happy customer.

I play out and use the psr630 extensively Liked the close proximity of drum fill and pattern buttons because I can easily push them while I play. Like most accompaniment keyboards the accompaniment is somwhat mechanical, but is not noticed as I only use the drums and sometimes the bass and leave the rest out. A more attractive board than the new 640, 740 series in my opinion Yamaha should have left the basic style alone. Sounds are ok and the disk drive is a major plus.If the budget doesnt allow or you play live with two boards then 630 with 32 voice polyphonic is enough. I dont yet know how the board will hold up under road use..we'll see.All in all a great board for the money, a good beginner board or a good board for the starving proffessional. I was used to having a board that you could load sounds into, with the 630 you cant as they are burned in ROM.Thats ok though for the price.

PSR 630 IS SOMETHING SPECIAL
IT IS BEST FOR COMPOSING. U CAN ENJOY A WHOLE SONG MADE BY YOURSELF. U CAN EDIT PRESET STYLES AND U CAN MAKE OF YOUR OWN. AUTHENTIC VOICES. AND YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO IN THIS PARTICULAR KEYBORB. IT IS ALTERNATIVE FOR KORG I SERIES.

I absolutely love this keyboard. It is an inexpensive yet excellent piece of kit. It competes well with other more expensive workstations avaliable. It has more voices (200 panel, 480 XG) than any other keyboard around �500. The styles are excellent. It has a disk drive 16 track sequencer There are loads of wicked effects the only drawback is that you can only have one DSP effect on a voice at a time. If you want multiple effects the PSR 730 has that and more but unfortunately its about �150 more expensive. Another drawback is the sequencer is direct to disk and there is no built in sequencing memory. It is great for all styles of music and has some great synth sounds too. With a little editing of the XG voices, a good use of reverb, chorus, and a suitable DSP effect you can get some great sounds. OK it's not analog but for �500 you can create some great sounds using XG Edit on a computer via MIDI or a Keyfax Phat.Boy. If you want a dance tool for around �500 get a CS1X keyboard or a MC 303. But they aren't a lot of good for any other styles of music. The PSR 630 is great. Buy one now and you won't regret it.
