im ripping the shit out of my rm1x. this thing is better than anything else in my opinion. this thing is outta control as i still dont know how to put it to its full capacity. this machine is like my wife, and together we produce babies. and are babies are comin out prettier each time, belive me. if you got the dough, hit ebay and buy one for half the price of that in a store. peace, check my album comin out soon in a store near you.

why it's so great? cause it's a so powerful sequencer and has great sounds. you can build pattern with 16 parts, 1 with the lenght of 32 and 7/8, 1 with 16 lengh and 3/4, etc etc, i mean: it's totally open up, endless sequencer like pc soft ones (in fact many people write things on logic or cubase and then transfer them on rm1-x to have a stable hardware sequencer). sure that you can drive your synth from rm1-x, it's made for this, everyone do this. ciao-marco

This is probably the single best electronic music purchase I've ever made. The sounds... damn you have about 700 of them. Yes they are weak as far as acoustical sounds. But dance music, specially techno is more suited toward analog sounds or sounds more electronic in nature. Take the piano sound for instance... as acoustical pianos go, it's pretty bad. But use that same piano sound to bang out some minor chords, loop it, add some effects and panning and you have a sweet as hell sound that sounds great in a house music mix. So in my humble opinion the sounds are great. It's all in how you use them. And like I said, you have almost 700 to choose from. I've listened to all 60 preset tracks and all their variations... I really can't see how anyone can say this thing is limiting... the depth of programming is mind boggling. It's hard to imagine anyone programming deep enough to push it to its limit. And as far as live shows... you're a one man rave with this thing... I was racking my brain trying to figure out a live rig before I got this... now that I have it that problem is solved. Though I will use some other gear, you honestly don't need anything else for a live set. Weaknesses: none really. It's not pretending to be anything it's not. It's not a synth or a sampler, so I'm not gonna complain about that it can't do. But for what Yamaha says it can do, it's all that, and a bag of chips with a soda! And a snickers bar.

this box rocks!! nothing more to it. after losing my patience with cakewalk, this little baby has gone from slave to master. it now runs itself, a roland dj-70, and a future-retro 777. a very nice little box that does what i want it to, when i want it to. one of the features that i like is that you don't have to program anything from scratch. for example, i created a pattern using some of the preset styles. next i turned off the tone generator and loaded patches into the dj-70. its nice to know that you can beef up that preset bass drum part with an external tone generator. to think that i almost sold this to buy a laptop. this is my laptop now!!!! i have just begun to scratch the surface, but after spending an entire day with it, i feel that i am in too deep to ever let it go. definitely a much wiser purchase than any roland groovebox.

This thing is friggen awsome! Who wants to sit at a computer with thei little mouse making f*ing music? I shure the hell know I don't want to. I usr the rm strictly in my studio as my head peice of equipment to sequence all my other gear. It never leaves my studio. I love this thing and would buy it over and over again. I think it is a real peace of beginner gear in the beginners hands and a peace of INSANE pro quality sequenceing in the pro's/intermideiate's hands. Go buy one, you won't be sorry.
