I just got this thing about a week ago, and I love it. The only thing I can't stand is that it takes a day for me just to figure something out because the manual is so vague. If Yamaha would post an FAQ on the RM1x, then I'd be 100% happy with this puppy. Other than that, its a solid machine.

a hobbyist user from USA writes:
I absolutely love this thing, it's opened so many doors for me.

However, I have to agree that the manual COMPLETELY BLOWS! I have a manual for the AN1x, and the difference is like night and day. As mentioned, the manual basically tells you what things are, but not what they do, or why you would them. (In comparisson the AN1x manual walks you through tutorial-like chapters) For instance: what is the difference between SPLIT and COPY? Lots of lttle quirks as well.

I think the problems lie more with me than the RM1x, but figuring out what I need to do is next to impossible (many thanks go out the various User Forums for this baby)

I'll give a full review when I am more comfortable with the machine.

Yoshii a part-time user from Utrecht writes:
As an ambitious techno producer I am a proud owner of the rm1x. I'm sure the sequencer is great but i bought it for the great sounds. At first I was a bit disappointed about them but you need to edit those sounds and add effects for a great result. Another thing, the effects that Yamaha threw in are of superior quality!! For all you techno people I would suggest to purchase a Korg electribe A on the side for it's delicious, leaking, sick and fucked up sounds. The filters on that baby are analog and have a frequency reach you can only dream of. At last, if you are not a real technical genius you may want to use cakewalk as a sequencer. But the rm1x is by far the best synth (16 parts!) in his price range!!!
