The Cons: weak keys and knobs, seem to go bad quickly. I had my keys repaired already. You have to press hard on keyboard to hear the sound. Sounds too analog, not enough tweaking power. Not very user friendly.
Pros: Cheap, floppy drive for storing your own patterns and songs. Good midi interface. Effects are fine too. Tons of sounds. Good display.
If the keyboard was little better, this would be the best thing around for the price. It's still very solid and I enjoy using it for hours.

Rm1x is very deep for programming some complicated notes, that you can't do with software. I've used rebirth, fruityloops, cubase, soundforge, acid, cakewalk and many more and rm1x smokes them all. Compared with mc505, mc is little better I think, it's more tweakable.
Rm1x is great for a musician on a budget, but if you got thousands of dollars to throw around, it's still a great addition to your studio for some new sounds, you don't have to use all of them, just few. I use 5-10 sounds from rm1x, 5-10 from mc some samples, fruity loops and I'm all set. I've got all I've need in a very small package with a big interface.

The last 3 songs were done with rm1x. I'll have more soon, so check back in few weeks.

I keep hearing complaints that the onboards voices suck... some of it sucks, but it has some very good drum sounds, but who cares... don't forget that this is a SEQUENCER and not a damn synth, and for the sequencer and features it does the job very well.
Only thing i hate about it is the white pads; its very clumsy sometimes, when i try to switch phrases within a track or if i try to switch tracks, it doesn't work...and that tap button sucks as well.
I will give it a 4/5. i am removing a point beause of the quality of the flimsy pads, and NOT the inbuilt voices...

I love the Rm1x...it works especially good with the yamaha an1x. As a sequencer, its great!!! as a stand alone synth, its pretty good still.
The best set up to have: yamaha su 700 - rm1x - an1x (or virus, etc) - mu128 tone generator (or motif rack)...
you will get some kick ass power!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS SIMPLY AWESOME SEQUENCER, much better than the cubase or other software virtual studio junk that crashes every second. this sequencer is ideal for live performances, and really Superb when you have external gears connected to it...
the internal built in sounds are great if you tweak them right (in the80s some artists used the cheesy presets of the DX7 to make great classics)...if you are talented you can make any sound work right!!!
But as a sequencer, live time, this thing blows the roland mc505 christmas toy crap away big time!!!!
