I have to amend my earlier raves about the SU700. I just had the mother of all freezes with it. It locked up and has stayed locked up, apparently for good. Luckily it happened just under the wire as far as the warranty is concerned. The biggest bitch about it is that I love it so much, it is totally vital to my music, and I am having total seperation anxiety! The support guys at yamaha seem to be familiar with this problem, as this bulliten board can well attest to. As for the last posting, the SU can sequence loops like the MPC2000, but because of the way it's layed out it's not ideal for this purpose. If what you really want to do is trigger loops, then I would check out a used Akai Remix 16. They're totally fun, hassle free, and they seem to be going for about $400 these days. For everyone else, I'm afraid I have to recommend the MPC2000.

yeah man its really easy to control with the rm1x. thats probably the best choice. you can sequence alot easier on the rm1x than the su700 so you can program in cool drum loops easier ect........

I NEED TO KNOW SOME THING

i currently have a yamaha rm1x doing all the sequencing, and i have an akai s20 for my sampler right now. what i need to know is wheather or not i can fully control sample play of the su700 with the sequencer on my rm1x. i just paid $700 for the rm1x and i don't want it to be pointless in my set up. i basically want to know if the su700 can be cotrolled by other gear (rm1x). or is it strictly a stand alone, do all machine. if it is easy to control then i will look in to getting one, if the midi is a nightmare then forget it. so can some one please post some information on the control of the su700 with an external sequencer.

**pros: filters are great groove function is amazing

**cons: shit! can't load nothin in playback mode. it's phrase sampler: you can send midi notes, but samples sound always the same frequency (unless you make use of the pitch using an assignable midi controller) it has 43 effects.. some are really crap, some are good. there are effects you can't apply to theaudio analog in. DON'T SUPPORT MIDI SAMPLE DUMP. DON'T SUPPORT SCSI SAMPLE DUMP. YAMAYA DON'T MAKE PUBLIC THE MIDI SPECIFICATION, SO WE CAN'T PROGRAM LITTLE WIN/MAC APPS TO MAKE THINGS EASIER
