Zyklon-------- Mine has locked up with ver 1.3 as well, but only once (in three months) since Allans (store in melbourne) gave me a new unit (the third one I've been through!). This bug has been a very random thing, though it seems to occur more out of the job system grid for me, more like when I'm twiddling knobs while recording, though sometimes when its just playing back as well. I think I mentioned it in my earlier review, when I took this machine into Yamaha Headquarters, the tech there expected me to get it to freeze in front of him. I don't think it's that sort of action-specific bug, just one that pops up when it's least expected (and usually thats when I have forgotten to save the last hours work! bitch!).

When I look at the bugs fix list for the MPC2000 at Protolab site, I actually reckon the SU700 is in quite a healthy state. There's something like 10-20 bugs that existed in earlier versions. I guess the SU700 lock-virus is quite a critical one though, especially when it comes to live performance. So I agree we need to make a conscious effort to note what we were doing when she freezes next time! Perhaps taking it to sampler Pump at the Servo (gas station)

P.s: This Sampler kicks arse otherwise. So smooth to use, so well laid out and all functions easily accessible. Imaginative and yet organized intergration of sampling, mixing, effects, synthesis and sequencing with a difference. Everyone I know who comes across it, is consistently blown away by its immediacy and quality, while still finding it fun to use in the process.

4, not 5 for obvious reasons.

My SU700 just locked up for the first time ever. Probably the worst time ever for it to do it too. I had just entered some seq. (before making scenes) and was checking the loop length, then suddenly-nothing worked. Can All you folks post what you were doing at the time of lock-up so perhaps we all can nail down were the glitch is taking place.I have the latest OS as well so I don't see what the problem is.Could it be heat sensitive? I left it on all day and was quite warm when the lock-up took place....gee whiz.

Hi,

I'm totally new to this game, but shouldn't I be able to import .wav files into the SU700? I put the floppy in, selected IMPORT, but I get Volume=(NONE). I don't understand.

Please help!

I've had my SU700 for almost a year and can only rave about it at this point. It's easy to use for recording and the results have been astonishing. It's been a great live instrument as well. However it is incomplete out of the box. I hope Yamaha listens up and makes and includes a SCSI! One thing to keep in mind when comparing with the MPC2000: the SU700 comes with wicked effects, better than those found on the $350 sampleverb board (if slightly more limited in their implementation).
