SCSI zip drives are mislabeled as Macintosh zip drives -- they're SCSI and about $100 but you'll probably need a centronics cable to get it to work as the connection on the zip drive is like an 15 to 18 pin connector (Im not sure which).

This is what I use and it works wonders.

I really do like these SU's, my only problem is the price they're currently fetching with a scsi board and maxed out ram you could pretty much get an A3000 or an MPC2000xl or a lower end E4 Emu sampler which makes the SU's that much less desirable.. Take a hint yamaha, lower the price and include that scsi port as standard equipment as ALL professionals will need and use this function alot. 4 stars 1 knocked off for price alone.

This unit has got to be the best kit i've messed with ever, however the cost of the output expander, and SCSI port is a little bit more than excessive.I agree standard issue should be a ZIP or some other substantial hardware. The fact that i cannot find a SCSI zip drive is also a hinderince - floppies are not reliable enough for serious work as they do tend to corrupt all the bloody time.

As if the SP-808 is complicated. It is only the beginning... Sorry to sound condescending, but when groove products are stumping users they should just give up. I've only played with the SU700, but it seems really cool.

Just got on for $819 for Zzounds.com w free shipping. It's very sturdy unit w a nice lay-out adn display. The sampling on it is very clean & fast. The buttons feel a little wierd but maybe it takes some getting use to. Still waiting for the SCSI card, heard it's back-ordered from Yamaha. Upgraded to 36mb and will go to 68mb when the SCSI card gets here. Can't do much w the basic 4mb. Wish there was more MIDI control and I think at this price range a SCSI or Zip should be standard instead of the floppy. Great sampler for re-mixing & live use. Interface way easier to use than something complicated like the SP808.
