I`ve been bying/selling all sort of music crap at least for 12 years and a list could be too long but let me tell you the only truth: SU700 is the best and useful purchase for all this period of time. The amount of money I paid to the always short of money student who sold me this fantastic machine was a bargain (400 USD). But as addition there was a SCSI - drive IOMEGA and a ZIP for 256 Mb. Honestly since my first Atari 1040 I hate MIDI and PC as well. So SU700 was my rebirth. I started to enjoy the process of creating music instead of digging in MIDI-shit,MIDI-channels,MIDI clock etc. Good, very good...

I love this machine. As soon as I bought it I uninstalled f"""ng Cubase away from my computer. I use only SU700 for creating drum loops, bass lines, FX. There is a whole world in this grey box with flashing lights. Buy it, it is cheap (I paid less 450 USD).

I have both the Mpc2000xl and the SU700. I love both machines but the su700 is so much easier to use. I love it most for the roll button that lets you do those old school Mantronix type "edits".

first of all this is no alternative to a MPC2000. the SU-700 is a loop workstation and the MPC a "midi production center" The SU does not do midi sequencing. but it does loop sequencing pretty good. therefor the SU is a perfect machine for use in live sets in the techno dance genre. The sequencer is not so good for studio composition works. it's just to limited. but i don't think it was yamaha's intention to build a studio workstation.

The sound of this thing blew me away. i first heard it at a live set from Speedy J. i'm now using it myself for loop composing and sample editing. this is where the real power of the SU is at. there are three FX sections with time effects, amplitude effects and some LOFI and SCIFI effects, LFO's for modulating pitch, filter and amp, Envelope for amplitude modulation. there is also a usefull EQ section. the SU is so easy to use that my motherinlaw can work it if she wanted to. it's on the fly creativity. i found one thing that sucks, you can't switch between songs without stopping the sequencer. a realy bad thing for live situations.

very si,ple machine to use. i have only had it one day, sampled, added effects and made a song with out use of manual.. i hear people whine about the dosk drive, but i saved 2 loops 4 composed samples and 1 free samples on one floppy so why are other people complaing they can save so little on a floppy!!??also i had a mirage sampler-if you want slow/smalll storage floppy drive then use that!!!

this machine looks cool has greatt effects, nice rubber pads-the knobs are a bit stiff, but nice. got mine new for 190$brats the su200 for the same price!!!! thee way the loop pards and composed loops are set up is different concept for me,but simple enough to grasp.also super cool if the scene memories to jump to certain settings in a flash.. what a bargain and what an easy creative sampler.5 out of 5 .....
