Seriously, when I saw how cheap the SU700 was getting, I was like: "Maybe they're finally coming out with an SU700 style sampler with more 'loop' pads and real midi-sequencing capabilities".

Well, close enough...we get the RS700. Honestly, I own like ajillion synths/'grooveboxes' etc., so my interest in the RS700 is not of much (an MPC Would fit my needs in the scenerio). And, honestly, from what I've been hearing, this box is just an RM1x with a sampler (the RM1x can be a bitchy character). It's best just to worry about whether you want an SU or an MPC.

Really, I'd rather have both.

Doesn't the SU700 use EDO ram? I remember the specs being fast page, 60 ons or greater.

King Coyote a hobbyist user from Denial writes:
about the ram - you can use computer memory but keep in mind they have to be SIMMs, which means you have to pair up memory sticks of the same amount of memory, ie 2 4mb or 16mb sticks. it won't recognize only one stick. read the manual, or download it from yamaha's website, and it gives you all specs you need for upgrading memory.

For the ram u can use a standard 32 meg from an old pentium 133 till 400. Be sure it have 72 pins and u are in buziness.
