Mark Spruell a hobbyist user from Detroit writes:
This card is all that has been advertised as, and then some. It really is an MU100R on a card with audio recording and 12 track playback plus 5 fx busses! For around $550! I've had mine for a year and half and there's still nothing to compare to it.

The downsides of this device are simply small technical compromises -- the synth sounds and the onboard fx are overly sterile. Though you CAN liven them up, they always seem to have a sharp edge. The quantity and quality of what is there for the money is simply astounding, though. The only other negative is the difficulty in recording through the fx -- there are some things I just don't want to record dry (compression and exciter on vocals, for instance) and the SW won't let you. I would recommend holding on to at least one multi-fx box and a good compressor.

The SW1000 can do everything else, and that's still an awful lot for very little.

I give it a big thumbs up. Great synth, 12 channels of audio, 6 seperate effects blocks(deadicated eq, chorus and reverb, 2 inserts, 1 variation). Plus the plug in system....I have the plg150-AN and am completely impressed. The sounds are phat. Gotta hear it to believe it...

By the way, Off Axis, Atari????? I think your definition of a synth is a little dated, this isnt the 80's anymore.....

This card is awesome from its specs. I have not used all of its sounds yet.. I am not sure if I ever need all of them. hehe.:) To set it up with Cubase VST/24 was a bit pain, that is only I had no clue what I was doing at the time. Yamaha's support f*&!ing kicks ass. They responded within 10 hrs. And I had some question regarding a software they recommanded, XGedit, they forwarded my email to the AUTHOR of the software, and BAM!!! it fixed all of my problems. Their support owns. hehe.
