Billy, you're bonkers....but a great poem. You can't help lovin' the DX even if it did kill off analogue. The world was looking for a different sound and this provided it at an affordable price. And it was reliable. More classic than most analogue synths and very strong in build quality. I've been using the DX for about 20 years on recordings and live. I am a reasonable programmer and have found that can always dish up what you want. A good buy.

Great sounds, but it's sad I guess it made all the analog stuff go. Here, I wrote a poem with it in mind.
DX-7
In my world of analog dreams You shattered its heart and ripped the seams You brought the tune moon down to the ground You broke the knot with slicing sound You broke into my world like a DX7 Digitizing the currents I held so dear You broke into my world like a DX7 You made the knobs disappear

I bought my DX-7 used off of Ebay when I was 17.... about a year ago. I loved the sounds...especially after coming across about 2000 patches for it. I did little programming, for it was very difficult. I especially loved the electric pianos and PPG sounds. Great stuff there. With the aqusition of other synths, computers, and VST's, the DX-7 has been mostly reduced to a MIDI controller.
The occaisonal event with the DX-7 appears in the good ol LJ www.livejournal.com/users/frayo

Once upon a tyme, several years ago, Yamaha decided to break the analog-synth barrier. Their creation? The DX7! One of the first digital synths and turned out very popular as well. It is a coarse synth, which was good. Back in the 80's, if you wanted a coarse synth with beefy and deep dynamics, the DX7 wuz there. If you wanted a total chorous entree with delicious strings and things, Roland wuz there. If you wanted a breathy pad synth, underground Kawai wuz there. The DX7 has a marked grave notable for the basis of digital synths that have came and will come. Pseudo Echo is an old 80's group that best described the DX7's possibilities.
