Wow - you guys are awfully hard on this synth!
I upgraded my Virus C to the Polar TI. What led me to upgrade was the incredible promise of integration that the TI brings. The ability to have the TI as the center of your soft synth universe is very cool My intention is to use the TI live with my Powerbook and a bunch of soft synths. The TI gives you a great 44k/48k audio interface and full midi capabilities over one USB cord - that's some breakthrough stuff IMO!!
In addition to the integration, the sound of the TI is intense! I also own a MiniMoog and I must say that the TI Moog filter emulation is closer than any VA I've ever heard. The TI filters are among the best I've ever heard. The Oberheim patches bring back memories of my Matrix and the OB-8, they sound fat and have the Tom Oberheim sound. In addition, Access did a great job on Roland style sounds - great analog brass sounds and perfect emulations of the Lyle Mays Super JX leads and Pat Metheny's Roland guitar synth.
The effects are much improved from the C. The delay sounds great and the phaser, chorus and reverb are also excellent. The effects alone are enough to put my nord Lead 3 up for sale and focus on the Virus!
I haven't yet messed with the hypersaws. Nor do I use arpeggiators so I can't say much about them.
Now the disappointing - the integration, at this time, is buggy. It works great with some apps like Reason, sporadic on Arturia MiniMoog (which is buggy anyway and has zero support from Arturia), and it doesn't work at all on the Korg Legacy stuff. However, based on my past experience, I trust Access to step up to the plate and get these issues resolved, at least the ones they can control. I suspect the Arturia and Korg issues may be beyond their control, which is unfortunate since both companies have pathetic support.
In summary, the sound is incredible, the promise of TI is forward thinking, but there are bugs to be worked out. In my opinion it is one of the best synthesizers available today! 5 stars.
