I just got an ASQ-10 (i've been looking forever, and got a great deal on one.)

Couple of items I've learned in the last 24 hours:
1. There is no SCSI on the unit (despite what the SynthSite page says). It's just an RS-232C port on the back which is supposed to hook up to a computer somehow... if anyone has specs/software, please contact me.

2. The display & backlight are integrated together (unlike the MPC-60II/3000 which the backlight is seperate and a $40 replacement), to replace the ASQ-10's screen/backlight is around $285. :(

Otherwise I need to sit down with the manual and start learning!... my new sequencer paradigm has arrived!

Plus this things is truely bulit like a tank, like the old IBM computer cases, just a big chunk of steel.

Later :)

this unit has been my main sequencer for 5 yrs. it is expanded to mpc60II spec. you can upgrade to mpc3000 spec but same slow processor. i use my mpc2000 now but don't have the courage to part with the asq10.

all you need to know is, the features are identical to the mpc60 save the sampling and drum pads. nuff said!

real sweet peice of hardware. the review is a bit misleading though - only 16 MIDI channels (which you can split over the 4 MIDI outs).

Update! i just installed the roger linn 3.1 software upgrade. my ASQ10 can now read mpc3000 sequences. it can also convert a sequence to SMF type 0 or 1. new MTC sync slave for using with digital recorders. i HIGHLY recommend purchasing this upgrade. go to www.rlinndesign.com for the details. ASQ10 users, GET IT NOW!
