i had this for only $150 in 87,good analog sounds,it's not the fattest one,but has it own character, the pressets like "despatched mode","cokteau twins" funny enough and described itself perfectly, yes,it's a analog timbre w/ a dark mood, not as bright as the american analogs.it's thin but the sweep is good enough.someone said its got ssm filter in side.

This synthesizer is a wolve in sheep clothes !

We started Doomsday reflex in 1988 after a lot

of gigs in steaming hot clubs our AX73 has never

let us down, due to our style what is

darkwave/gothic music the anolog sounds are still

a very important ingredient in our music.

The combination with our S-950 sampler is just great

I won't ask for more !!!

A lot of our samples we use in our music

are sampled from the AX73 synth.

This says enough I think. AX73 - The grey flat metal box - I'd quit without it

With pleasure

Certainly this keyboard is not for everybody, but I recently picked one up and I must say it is one of the strangest sounding boards i ever did hear. The bass that this thing can create, using its crazy lowpass filters and setting all 6 oscillators to one key, is house shaking. Although the resonance sounds like it is set to max when only set 1/4 the way up, above this mark it makes huge screaming sounds ye gotta love. Only having had it for a week I have discovered unless you save a sound you will probably never hear it again, a great amount of manipulability for its price... if you can find one. E-mail me if you have one also I am interested in sharing info about this great board.

Tony a hobbyist user from U.S. writes:
Its a good synth for what I paid (399), but I'd say its too big for the sound it makes. It lacks grungyness but it can be very fat in dual or unison mode, and it can make some sounds that few other synths can. It makes sounds identical to my dx7 which is very impressive for an analog synth. It has very unique sounds, and its relatively rare, so if you find one get it. The 73 keys is a big plus and so is midi. The downside is that its only 1 vco per voice, and using the dual mode cuts polyphony to 3. Also you can't detune the oscilators by an octave, which is bad, but its capabilities make it worthwile.
