I am a big fan of hardware sequencers and producing music since 7 years old :) I had an MPC4000 3 years ago but was unstable because of the OS version and very big&heavy and decided to buy the new 1000 v2(black). After 2 hours i was impressed by the new JJ os1 and feel the sequence floating. The presets sounds are some big&fat hip hop kicks&snares (in my opinion very usefull) and the sound is real punchy! This MPC1000 is a great machine for the price and can replace with musical feeling the dead PC sequencers (PC music software sucks!!) PS: that swing thing is real and drums feel just right at home !

Love the MPC line. This one is powerfull and easy to carry around.(I had the MPC500, very portable as well, but very limited in some functions.) I have expanded RAM, harddisk and JJ OS. These features makes this MPC a lethal piece of equipment.
But anyway, an MPC is just an MPC. You like the workflow of it or not. But if you're into realtime seqeuncing, this MPC is highly recommended. Just the MPC1000 is a nice piece of equipment, but when it's fully expanded...Who'll need a 2500?

I used software at first but later switched to a motif es 6 as my sequencer/sampler and the center piece of my studio. I purchased my mpc 1000 when I got a smoking deal on it; I had always heard of it having great workflow which is what always attracted me most to it. I can honestly say that it's the best studio purchase I have made so far. I want to also mention that I used my mpc for about a month without the JJ OS and I really liked it more than my motif but after I installed the JJ OS, I never looked back. My 1k has helped me increase my productivity dramatically specially when working with samples. There's something about the 1k that is just more fun for me to use which helps my creativity. To me, it's less restrictive than my motif, I feel like I can basically do what I want and don't have to work around a bunch of limitations. I still have my motif es 6 but I only use it for it's sounds, keys and as a midi controller that along with my 1k's sequencer and 2 midi outs, control my other sound module racks and keyboards. Every aspect of creating beats from midi sequencing/editing to sample chopping/editing all the way to previewing samples and loading/saving my work was all significantly sped up. Remember that I'm using the JJ OS, the factory Akai OS is really good but the JJ OS turns the 1k into a beast, definitally worth the small price you pay.

for the price this thing rocks individual outs easy to learn , usb,I like the sample chop, I to use this unit as sketch pad when I dont feel like turning on my computer...I link this unit up with my old asr-x ( which I still loves the way it sound ) & my korg esx-1 not much more to say but this machine works for me.......

Wow First time i've used one of these. owned now for about two weeks and hell these things are quick and easy (your limits is where it stops). This was defo the thing missing from my setup and i have quite an arsenal of gear that would make most jealous. My work flow has increased and certainly sped up 10 fold. I give this unit 4 outta 5 cos nuffins perfect though the jjos comes close. i will never change back from the mpc method now and have virtually eliminated the use for computers now. One of my best buys
