I've used an Akai MPC3k, 60, EMU SP-1200, ASRX-PRO, software samplers/sequencers, etc, etc. In other words, I've used it all. I'd say the MPC1000 is one of, if not, the best sampling drum machine ever. This is saying a lot, because I'm a huge MPC3k fan. With OS2.01 installed, it's a very powerful device! It sounds like a typical MPC, that classic dark/crunchy hiphop sound, and the hiphop "swing" quality we all love! (I think all MPC's have the same sequencer "swing" feel.)

For me, the big sell, the sample chop shop features. (OS 2.01 only) I hate cutting up beats / loops, and now I don't have to worry about it:-)))) This gives me my much needed time digging for records and being creative!

My version has a 40 gig hard drive installed. I can have my entire sampling library, and my current work, on the go. I can work anywhere at anytime!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are a hip hop producer, this machine will make you smile!!!!!

I give it a 5.

I've never used a MPC2000 or any MPC"s but the MPC1000 and those that say it worthless just don't know what there doing B/c it's not the equipment it the user. So everyone claims to be pro's with MPC's and all but if they were pro's then they would know what a BEAST it is or can be if you put time and work into b/c i have time stretch and reverse editing in my 1000 b/c you'll be surprise @ what you will find with a lil research!

Taxis a hobbyist user from Canada writes:
A new review since the updated OS has been released. Seriously, every little problem I had with this piece of gear beforehand has been addressed. They even added little features like the ability to switch from the effect view to the mixer view with the push of a button.

And the new autochopping feature is easy to use, and gives you the ability to cut a loop into between 2 to 64 smaller sections. The event detecting for the autochop is even better than recycle.
