This machine is the ultimate if you're into groove based music. Akai managed to produce a unit that is sophisticated enough to be the centre of any studio, but simple enough for the average guy on the street to make killer tracks. That's the secret of the MPC2000'S SUCCESS. Expand the memory and you can do anything with it. I've had mine for nearly four years, and no matter what they bring out I'll never part with it. TEN OUT OF TEN FOR A TRULY MAGICAL PIECE OF GEAR...

i 've had my MPC for about five years and it's the best single machine i believe in HIp Hop today but beware after five years of heavy usage i have already replaced the LCD screen and the disk drive. nut don't sweat if you can install additional memory the rest of this shit is a piece of cake i ordered the lcd from akai via Guitar center and paid about $116.00 for it They tried to get me to pay them about $100.00 to install it but i was able to do it myself in about 20-30 minutes, with the help of my Eyeglass screwdriver. The disk drive i replaced from Comp USA for $20.00, and it took 10 minutes to do.

own a MPC2000. Everytime I try to save samples i can't with the floppy drive. I purchased a CD burner, but the MPC didn't recognize it. What would be a compatible device to install to my MPC2000 to save my music? Can I hook my MPC up to my computer? How can I download beats to my MPC? Please let me know.Thank You

I've been making beats for a couple of months and already they are starting to sound respectable. I don't care what anyone says u don't get the same feel or inspiration from a computer no matter how much crap you've got on there and I've never been tempted to hurl it at the wall like I have a PC.

People can dog this unit all day but I have never in my life come across a unit like this that inspires the level of creativity as the MPC 2000. Whoever designed this was an absolute genius. It'll get you away from staring mindlessly at your computer screen trying to sequence some dead, sterile rhythem and breath life into your work. As a live tool, it is untouchable. If people even think for a second that the Yamaha RS7000 is even a competitor, they must be dreaming. Forget the hip-hop cliche's, this unit is ideal for any style of music. You are only limited by your own creativity.
