I had my MPC for about 1yr and a half. I recently figured out it's full power. I'm on it everyday now. I use it mainly for drums and samples while controlling my XP30. The sequencer is the illest, the only thing I can't do is get it to play back my midi tracks from an external sequencer like Cubase. It only plays back the track that is currently selected on the MPC. That sucks because I paid a ton for that damn PC sequencer. Besides that the MPC2000 is just as good as Cocoa Pebbles. The MPC and some sound modules is all you need..

woody tobias, jr. a hobbyist user from usa writes:
An example of excellent interface design. I've tried too many machines that make you fight with it to get what you want. Nothing stops creativity and inspiration more than some poorly designed interface. The MPC is definitely NOT like that. It's very easy to use, while offering quite a bit of depth. The MPC pulls you in. I can start just loading in a few samples and goffing around. Next thing I know it's a couple hours later and I've built up an epic tune. Very fun.

I know everyone thinks of it as a dance/hip-hop machine. But I'd say it very capable of handling just about any style of music if you're using it in conjunction with other pieces of gear.

I'd think the only way you'd be disappointed is if you're buying it to be your only sampler. It doesn't have the amount of parameters of a dedicated sampler. Think of it as the ultimate drum machine/sequencer which also can sample. Forget all those condescending "groove" type of products. The MPC doesn't have to shout about it's capabilities, it just rocks like a motherfucker.

It's the kind of thing that actually improves all your other synths that are hooked up to it. They suddenly become more fun to use. To me, some machines limitations make you just lose your inspiration. Whereas the MPC's limitation inspire me more to work in the defined boundaries.

The only regret i have about getting the MPC is that I wonder why I didnt get one sooner.

after fighting with the mp60 and the mp3000 the 2000 is heaven. i've owned mine for 2 years now and i am still amazed at some of the things i pull off. i maxed mine out to 32mb so i have about 3 minutes sampling time stereo. more than enough to satisfy my curiousity of the sampling world. only thing it's missing is a way to view a sound with out actually loading it first. also if there was a time/date stamp for when you save something that would be a blessing.

Bought a mpc2000 fully expanded 2nd hand and after 1 day I am prepared to say I will never ever use another sequencer again . All I need now is a second mpc2000 because 32 notes and 32 meg just isnt enough when they are just so amazing .
