Weelll. right now I got about a grand sitting around, and I have been entertaining buying one of these things. I almost bought a studio 440, but now it seems a bit pointless..Sure, the studio 440 could always kik ass all over any other sequencer, but... I think the only thing that is better than a studio 440 or a MPC is Vision.. nothing like restartable loop triggering.. pure joy... so, its either this thing and rebirth or a real TB-303... hmmm..

This is the best piece of gear to come out in 1997. Equally at home in the studio or onstage, the MPC 2000 is a jack of all trades. I recommend getting the thing maxxed out to take full advantage of its capabilities. The new OS (ver 1.5) is a live performer's dream, allowing track mutes with the 16 pads and on the fly pattern switching via the dial or keypad. All this on the same page! The sound quality is great, but remember that this thing is a sampling drum machine and does not have as complex a synthesizer architecture for complex instruments. In all, a great machine. Well worth the wait and the money.

i love it. good sampler. good sequencer. easy to use. built solid. sounds great.
this doen't mean it's perfect by any means. i could almost forgive the lack of a
decent filter bank if you could use it a multitimbre fashion. but if they made it
too good, no one would buy the s-series samplers anymore. perhaps we'll see time
stretch/compression in the next upgrade. get it with sampleverb if you can.

The MPC2000 is KICK ASS!!!..straight off!! Make no mistake though, it is a SEQUENCER first and foremost...with a 1/2 decent sampler and great drum pads. It will do a helluva lot for the project studio although I'd recommend an AKAI S-series sampler for serious sample editing, not just looping. Too bad the technology got out there before internal JAZ drives were available...floppy storage sucks. I rate the MPC2000 a 5+. Get one!

I've just purchased my sampler, and then upgraded it to 32MB. Getting used to it was very simple and fast. I use it in conjuntion with My computer using Sound Forge, Cubase VST, and Cakewalk. The MPC2000 has made it possible for me to do all the sampling that i had stored in my mind, but never had a way of bringing it to life. I'm sure once i use it more the possibilities are endless. The machine is wonderful.......well back to work....
