Check Akai's support section at www.wkaipro.com for a list o compatible SCSI zip drives. I am currently using a Fujifilm Zip-250 drive at it works with the MPC 2000, 2000 XL, 3000, and the 4000. I have also used an Iomega Zip drive and that worked as well.

Real F***ing good machine, ladys and gentlemen, this is the best hardwaresequencer around for producing rythmatic based music, a midi controller keyboard is a must have for big synthlines. so is a good scsi disk, and there is the main turn off, I've try'd varius scsi disks that worked on akai gear before on the mpc. but i can't get the mofo to work. and the manual is not that helpfull either. so i'm a bit stuck here... maybe i forgot to terminate the scsi in the mpc itself, does anybody know how this is done? please mail me,

Very good machine but I 've had it for long and it got broken with time.My 16level is down as well as the copy mode and four pads. They should make them more resistant.Otherwize it's a great mean of music production

Number one it's the greatest hardware sequencer of ALLTIME with a wonderful feel. The sampler is not the greatest but expand the memory to 32MB and it gets the job done. I love the onboard mixer section. Seriously all you need is an MPC2000 an effects box and a CD writer, and of course your imagination to make killer tracks with this machine. Forget software sequencers, the MPC2000 is very powerful, tight and really kicks. And at the current second hand prices is an absolute bargain. Get one now!!! 10 out of 10

First let me say that I have read every review on all the Akai MPC series and I can appreciate all views. I own a 2000 studio plus and must say "..the thing is incredible." I have owned it 3 yrs and i'm still finding new uses for it. Everytime i get mad and think of selling it, it shows me something new proving it's worth. With any sampler theres endless music possibilities but with a MPC your 1 up on the competition(my personal opinion). As to which MPC is the best....i'll leave that up to you. I just bought a 60 and looking for a 3000 just to see if all the hype is true(i'll let you know what i find) At the end of the day the bottom line is the finished product. If your tracks are hot, it doesn't matter what you use; if there not, well.......keep practicing. but my 2000 has definatly earned its place in my studio.
