Hey there selling the Zip disk upgrade kits for 120-130. To let you guys know it's really just a NEC zip100 drive, but you need an adapter to hook it up to your MPC so if you decide to be cheap you'll have to make an adapter. And if you have a drive that needs more than 5V forget it. you need Akai's adapter wich they sell in a kit that cost 29.99 wich is just for some cable and a wire. I suggest you guys go for the kit if your interested in upgrading to a Zip it's less frustration. How do I know? I tried it.

Expansion doesn't cost that much I've got my 2000 up to 180 in stereo. Try the 16 levels function till u can afford more ram a bit of experimentation can lead to surprising results!

Rich a hobbyist user from US writes:
I have had this machine for almost 2 years now and I agree that it is a bit overpriced. I will never sell mine because it is so easy to use. This machine is already a classic whether people like it or not. Yes people can say this is a street level production tool but street music makes a lot of capital these days. It is a drum module that creative people found other ways to use. I had the ASR X and I sold it because it wasnt a good match for me. The guy that bought the ASR said he bought it because of the name. I guess since I had the MPC first it won me over when I compared them side by side. The best things in life are simple. Some of the best music is simple. I dont need a bunch of efx on my music. Use this as a drum machine/sound efx box and edit your samples on a computer. If you need sounds get a Triton or something.

Its a cool machine... very easy to use and its also fun... i havent even read the manual at all... the only bad thing about it is that you need to buy a lot of stuff in order to make complete use of it... like a Zip drive or and a CD-R, memory etc etc... most if not all of those things are on the 4000, thats why is so much more expensive... anywasy, i need to buy a zip drive for mine... anybody knows which one i should buy and where... anywasy... thanx... pz...
