I give this unit a 5 simply because it packs a lot of bang for the buck. This device plays a big role in Hip Hop,R&B and Sound Effect projects. You can take a common sound and tweek it to make a totally new sound. It slaves with other midi compatible devices as well. It can also be like a midi controller also. You can also upgrade it with two EDO 16meg simm ram modules to give you more sampling time without having to loose quality. You can also add a $200 sound effect card thats really easy to install. It also reads cd roms from any scsii device with WAV. of Akai sound file on it. Just about every major studio has one because of its groundbreaking capabilities. Buy one from this site now!!!!!

Madlooper a professional user from USA writes:
I love my MPC!!! what can I say!!! at first I wanted to take it back. I didn't like how it only had 10sec of sample time and I had to buy sample CDS. But a week later I fell in love with it. I custimized my own drum pad. I sampled some cool effects I filtered off my Triton for a superb drum sound. But, however it seemed as though the MPC kicked down the quality of my Triton sample!!! Does anyone know what I need to do to boost the quality of my MPC sample? It sounds Kind of flat after I sample a sound. I can run it through my Behringer Composser pro, or my Effects processor but is there anyway to boost quality without doing all that? ANyway I love the MPC and how good the pads feel. It is exactly what I was looking for. It may have taken me months to afford it but between my MPC and my Triton I'm happy!!! How bout you?

I have a eps, korg karma and a Mpcxl. And I've come to the conclusion that this is easiest machine to use period... Complain all you want but their is reason why everybody in the rap industry uses it which is also the top selling genre.SO please flush it. You just need to spend some time and extra money. Thats it
