r-tek a hobbyist user from up my own arse writes:
sigh, its not supposed to replace a sampler in the studio - why is it so hard to get that into peoples heads? And you need at leat 480 pqn for jungle? bollocks, if you can`t make a decent track with 96, you`ll never manage it with 480, mate.

As I keep repeating over and over, name another sequencer (that isn`t an mpc) that has 16 velocity and aftertouch sensitive pads, lets you alter each individual notes attack, decay, filtering and tuning all from the stepedit screen without the need to assign controllers along with the usual notelength and velocity. And one that has a slider to alter all those paramters if thats whats required. And one that features decay switching so you can use the aforementioned slider to increase the lenght of the decay and then drop in a half and/or fully open hat into the mix. How about sounds automatically cancelling themselves out so your hihats sound like they`ve been played by a drummer?

I have another sampler to handle twisting out my sounds, the MPC is quick and intuitive to use to a point that after a couple of months you dont even realise you`re using it - no staring at some vertical bar as it crosses the screen or clicking some frigging mouse to do your arranging - just listen to the music cos as painfully obvious as this is to say, music is not visual and its not always wise to bring that element into the studio. No, it aint perfect by any means, but if you actually concentrated on what it does rather than what it cant do (if you bought one of these expecting a fully-fledged sampler then you deserve to be disappointed) then maybe you`d notice that this box has a lot going for it.

Some people just cant see the woods for the trees.

Drekhed a hobbyist user from The Netherlands writes:
Why this baby is getting knocked by a lot of people is beyond me... I picked one up expanded second hand for a good price... For me, this thing works faster and better than the other sequencers I've tried.. I really wanted a hardware sequencer 'cos I want to do live music. This baby delivers. The groove feels good, and the sounds you put in, are thne sounds you get back.. I work really fast with this baby and I feel confident.. In one evening I set up some samples for the DJ in our band to work with the same night.. We really had some people looking where the hell the cool sounds came from ;). Whoever said this has no bass never worked with this baby... we got the PA shaking in no time... Let me add up: More sample memory, more sequence memory, more "live" options and less expensive than a mpc3000.. Somebody maybe even wanted to trade his 3000 for my 2000XL and I doubt i will....

TEKNIK a professional user from K.C. USA writes:
Okay mister "lets clear this up now." The MPC2000 and the 2000xl are major pieces of shit. If you don't believe I'm saying this then you have obviously never been fortunate enough to work with an MPC3000 or an MPC60 for that matter. Granted, the 2000xl is okay on the sequencer end, but if you conducted the exact same piece of music on both the 2000xl and then the 3000 you would see that where your 3000(by Roger Linn I might add) seems to flow like fluid, the 2000 and 2000xl sound very rigid and mechanical, they have no groove to them. Also you lose major low end on your kiks and sub basses when using a 2000. On top of this the 2000xl OS is still flawed. When you load a sample into it it trims of very noticable msecs off of them without permission. The 60 and 3000 have never caused any problems ever. Gee, do you think that could have something to do with the fact that Mr. Linn was not involved int the 2000 creation process? Sure, if you are limited in experience only to the 2000xl then it won't make any difference to you, but as soon as you try a Linn MPC you'll understand what people mean when they say that the MPC2000 is nothing more than a toy MPC, and it does not deserve to have the word "professional" after the Akai logo. I've said it before and I'll say it again...Akai is truly clueless without the help of Roger Linn on their side. LONG LIVE THE MPC60 AND MPC3000 DOWN WITH THE MPC2000.

Rich a part-time user from US writes:
Just got into this music production thing and this is the first piece of hardware that I've purchased. So far, this thing has been holding me down on the sequencer end. The drum machine seems solid... Whatever...the shit is doing what I want it to do. It's hard for me to say what its limitations are because I haven't had it that long. So far, no huge complaints.

KEVIN a part-time user from Holland writes:
I'm verry happy with my MPC 2000 XL. Never look to a monitor again to make a song. Just press REC and jam. I have contact with my music now, no more mouse kliks again. And this machine has a lot more in his soul.
