i've been using mpc's for years, i've had em' all...60's,2000's,3000's you name it. with the JJ o.s. the 2500 is solid. i love the wav file dump over usb. ive got a 80gig hard drive, no more floppies, thank god. the dvd drive is a nice touch, you can sample right off the cd. the whloe new mpc verses old mpc debate is silly. if you're getting into the game now, get the latest gear....you're not making beats for 1988, you're making beats for 2008 and beyond..the good ole days weren't always that good

I thought of buying a 2500, but when I read this, I am very unsure. What kind of "glitches" do you mean ?? The USB connection, the sound? My English is far from perfect. Regards

check it...I Have been a long time devoted customer for AKAI. To keep things short and sweet, so you people are informed i worked on 3 different MPC2500 and had to return them all because of glitches. Most people who do this and have clients know that you can't work on material and have your machine give you problems. It just seems unprofessional. After which, I gave the MPC 2500 another chance, took home the "Limited Edition" one and it was cranking them out, track after track. All of a sudden, two months into it...bam! glitches. the machine has been acting up...All i gotta say is save your stuff on a PC cause this machine is like a chick one minute she's cool the next minute you wanna through her out the window. Peace!

If you can't make a beat on the 2500 then there is something definitely wrong. It still feels like the older 2000/XL machines, but it has a more powerful processor. TimeStretching is now almost an instantaneous process, recordable track mutes, Card reader/Internal HD for super fast loading, USB connectivity for backing up your work, audio tracks for sampling live while the beat is playing (and it inserts the sample into the track for you), 128Mb ram, EQ and compression, Normalize, the list goes on. This is really a 2000XL on steroids. It does everything you need a drum machine to do. I wouldn't downgrade from this machine. There's just too much that a 3000/60 can't do to justify buying one, and there's so much other more powerful machines can do that I won't ever need. The 2500 is perfect.
