i order one yesterday 'it felt good in the store' but after looking at these reviews i want to change my mind .... isnt there anyone from akai that can help with theses problems daaaaamn i have a 2000 and a 2000xl maybe i got to keep them.
But It seems much firmer and built love the bigger screen

why with the akai mpc 2500,you have to used the tempo in seq mode and not manaul or seq mode like the 2000xl?

The 2500 is a good machine; HOWEVER, the so called fixes addressed by the latest OS still leave significant errors/bugs behind like not being able to load programs due to wrong file errors cropping up (somehow the .pgm file is getting corrupted), samples missing from programs, audio problems after performing several usb transfers (distorted hiss), timing hiccups, etc... There are others, but these are one's I've and others have experienced. Even before getting mine I heard of the above problems and figured they would be addressed, but a year later, nothing. There are workarounds for all these issues (none convenient--many problems go away by Saving All, but what if I really just want to save an individual kit. YOu can, but it may or may not keep all the sample assignments intact), BUT it would be nice not to have to work around them and for the unit to execute the features it is purported to have. Realistically, the problems above prevent me from using all the functions of the unit with efficiency. Do the bugs happen all the time, no, and that is what is nerve wracking. You don't know when it's going to hit. You go to laod a program and fine you can't because you get a wrong file error or samples assignments are missing. Then you have to get the Pc involved to pull out the backups. Problem is, now I'm doing usb trnasfers which may result in a terribly loud hiss in the sound generator.
For what it's worth, when I do get thorugh a session w/o probs, the 2500 has the legendary tight sequencer and a good feature set. I personally like the build of the hardware. It feels solid. The pads feel and play great although some MPC purists say the pads are as good as old. IF Akai could really dedicate themselves to fixing the product they have out now and stop with rolling new product out they could have a winner. Right now I feel they are taking advantage of the legact Roger Lynn created and the fact the MPC is the defacto standard for an entire genre.

2500 is nice---if you aren't entirely sample based---if you are get a 4000-that's what keygroups are for. Anyhow---the 2500 is the best MPC out right now if you use lots of external racks--it's perfect for sequencing. The sampler is cool and the new OS corrects 98% of bugs that were present. Everyone is go go over the "JJ" os for the 1000 but the 2500 still has direct recording, the ability to burn cd's and read dvd's AND comes standard with 8 outputs. The 1000 can't compare---the 500 is a TOY! The 25K is truly the best MPC out right now.

Short and simple. I would like to know why the akai 2500 tempo cant change wile playing. U have to stop the mpc 2500 to change the tempo. Why?
