Personally after messing with both the 2000 and 3000, the only difference I feel is that the 3000 has a more proffesional interface. It's aimed more at the Pro user compared to the simpleness of the 2000. But in reality I think there is really no difference between the two. If you compare the specifications for both of them then they are both the same except that the 2000 has more note capacity. So why is the 3000 more $$$$$ and why do people call the 2000 a toy when the spec's indicate the 2000xl to be better then all other MPC models? I personally think they're both the same.

MPC3k is a good machine, bought it secondhand from the states and am going to get the monitor exoansion for it (just trashed cubase sick of computer sequencing). Just going to be sequencing on it and dumping the tracks into protools for comping. The mpc2000xl i liked as well but no monitor output :( some other good functions though. I like the mpc (it reminds of the times that i just used to make tracks on an hr16b)

Umm, Mr. 1 out of 5 marks, it's THE SOUND! THE SOUND, man! I own both the MPC 2k and 3K and I can tell you I wish I waited before purchasing the MPC2k because it's sitting taking up space while the MPC3k is being USED! I don't think people on this thread shout out just because they want to jump on the 3k bandwagon. There's a reason why it's preferred over the MPC2k...it delivers!! In sound quality, in ease of use ( I know...mine was easier to sequence w/ than the MPC2000) in almost every category. Funny...with less RAM and expandability, people out there are doing MORE with their MPC3k's than the MPC2000. True, some expansion options are wanting on the 3000 but not many, bro. Not to mention, the 3000 OS was NEVER as buggy as the 2000 or the 2kxl.

Yeah, a used MPC3k costs mad money. But to me it's worth it and obviously more than half the MPC heads out there feel the same way. I'm not trashing the MPC2k...remember I own one. I'm just getter better results faster with my MPC3000.

Check this...if the MPC2000 is your MPC of choice and it's putting food on your table then more power to you. Work with what ya got! Besides, all you want is a hardware sequencer anyway, right?
