A great piece of kit. The only thing is that sometimes that frustrating `Richard` error comes up when using it with recycle. It really annoys me !
On the whole ..... !!! it`s GrEaT !

Incredible unit for the price you can get these at now (mine cost 400UKP w/ 32MB - equivalent to around $600 US).
Lots of features and great sound output, it's been the centrepiece of my studio for some time. Snatch one up if you get the chance mates!
Cheers!

i owned one after i sold my s2800,be honest,on dynamics, the old s-series sound better,on features, always the newer ones win.i ever sold one just 'coz a musician friend in a hurry need to buy one to gig overseas,so i sold it to him, then i tried to buy an emu e6400 but there was a un-compatible w/ my mo drive and back data of akai so i finally turned to buy another s3000xl.it's cheap, easy to use, more fuctions,it can play midi files independently and even can do a 2-track hard disk recording!!more outs(even s/pdif digital i/o),solid built(better than s2000,mpc2000/xl),simms ram(i paid $700 for only 8mb custom-made ram for the old s2800),only for functions can get a rating of 3,for the flat sounding get another rate.
