Very easy to use....I don't know about that dude's comment below (maybe he's slow or just plain retarded?) but, it's very user friendly. Nice fat akai sound too.

peace!

The Akai S2000's only problem is the OS. It's so fuckin' hard to use. You can't make any mistakes and if you do, it's very hard to cancel your actions. People propably invented the term "fucking around" when they first tried the akai s2000 OS. It takes a while to get used to the slow tempo of the OS, but when you do, it's worth it. Akai S2000 sounds pure and great.

If you are using a PC and an S2000, buy yourself a cheap 25pin SCSI card and a copy of 'Millennium' from rubber chicken software. It allows you to set up your programs and transfer samples to and from your PC. There are loads of cool features. It's alot better than MESA.

it saves so much time!

Adam Wilson a part-time user from Australia writes:
I recently sold my S2000, I had it for 4 years and it served me very well. I never had any prob's with the OS, even the Mesa editing software worked fine on my computer. I used it for drums and loops - for the first three years it was a de-facto hard disk recorder, all my computer did was run Cubasis 1.11!!!

In terms of what u sample it comes out the same, something which i like. I got rid of it because I do my mixdowns in vst (i use Speedsoft's Vsampler - it reads Akai format), plus I was getting some fx/outboard and I needed the cash. One day I wouldn't mind picking up one in the future, cause i just love that clean Akai sound.

If you are starting out and looking 4 a cheap hardware sampler get one of these, they are so cheap now. 32mb is fine for beats, loops etc. I used 16mb max for a tune.

Cons - The manual imo is badly written (no suprises there), filter is average but it dosen't suck. Editing at first by the screen can be annoying but once u get used to its fine.

I have used akai s2000 now for 2 months now. I have upgraded memory to 32mb and bought scsi card to my PC + scsi hd. Its best piece of gear for that money, you dont need anything else in your studio (except mixer and PC :). Great for any kind of breakbeat music like drum'n'bass and jungle.

Haven't found anything bad about this sampler and i think the filtters are great, not bad like someone could say, but meaby not for that stupid eurotrance stuff
