Got mine about 2 years ago. Got pretty much used to it, but I HATE data wheels. so I got MESA. Wonderful! The newer version 2.0 has got VERY useful new features and a brilliant interface. I use it on an old Mac 7100/66 (see the MHz number??? It's slow! :-D). MESA just works perfectly on it. Filters and overall sound cannot be compared to EMU, sythesis features cannot be compared to samplers like the Yamaha A3000, which has a lot more. But ask yourself, guys: It's not the range of features, it's what you can DO with it. Right? Hey, its a SAMPLER. It depends on what you put in it... :-) 4 out of 5 cheers!

A definite bargin, but MESA is extremely buggy. I bought one when it first came out (the first affordable sampler, along with the ESI, at that time) and have been well pleased with it.

This sampler really rocks! All editing seems difficult at first but once you play with it over the weekend things get easier. I had somewhat of a problem trying to find RAM for it though. I eventually found some SIMMS from a company called Centon electronics. 16M will cost around $25 US. The part number is 324090-07M. And no I don't work for this company...I'm just sharing some info for people who might need it. ;-)

electroset a part-timer user from usa writes:
The s2000 does the job. However, it lacks any sort of synthsis , any of the expanders cost half the price of the sampler, and the interface is crap (not to mention that it has an itsy-bitsy screen which is hard to read except from straight-on.

I give it a 3.75
