this sampler, however not quite as good at presenting and representing a sound as any emax sampler, is an advanced insturment by any right. . programming it is interesting, not exactly automatically intuative , but after a while becomes second nature and is actually quite powerful (working the envelopes and filters simotaneously puts s2000 on the border of actual synthesis). produces suprisingly good lead sounds, I like this one!

well,its sounds pretty good,like the standard kinda sampler of 44k,16 bit kind..but...
when u can buy an output expander,filter expander and effects expander all in1 card for the price
of about 400 pounds for the emu esi32,when these cards cos between 350-400 pounds each for the akai s2000,and the new
yamaha a3000 has effects,filters etc,i think the s2000 could end up being a very costly alternative to these samplers.. ..unfortunately ...i bought the akai s2000.... so emu and extras for about 1300 pounds...
or s200 for about 900 pounds,plus 399,plus 350,plus 350...hmmm...a bit more i think...

handling of stereo samples. Upgrades are easy to install, and makes you "grow
with your sampler". Built-in SCSI interface for direct, fast and trouble-free
hookup to any Macintosh. Compatible with sound libraries from Roland S-50/550/
770/750/700, Akai's older machines (S900/950/1000/1100/3000/2800/3200), E-mu's
classic E-III and the rest of their machines (excluding only E-I, E-II and
Emax I). 32 megs of RAM - no problem. 4 times more than on the classic still-
studio-standard S-1000. 32 voices. Quick sampling, excellent sound, no EPS/ASR
clicking when adjusting start/end or looping points. Timestretch sound quality is a thousand times better than on the ESI-32.

Equipped with EB16 fx unit it is totally great - you can even route other sound sources through it. The display is little, but it's a minor problem - only when you have to make complex programs with tens of keygroups it's kind of a hard to use... MESA for PC doesn't work very well - it crashed my OS, had to format c: . ... S2000 unit also heats up like hell if you cover it with anything. but-- S2000 was the sampler I was looking for! ; )
