The Akai s6000 is superb for film based and ambient music. It's got the sound. If you're doing Techno go Emu. If your looking for a sampler with an "in your face" sound go Emu. If you want to be working over an inferior LCD playing page games go Emu. Samplers are a love/hate scenario. One isn't any better than the other. It's a matter of "subjective opinion".
I've worked with both machines extensively and the Akai is easier to get around on. Also, the fact that I can take the LCD with me in the studio is an advantage.
I had some occassional freezes in vs. 1.20 and just upgraded to vs.2.00
If anybody out there can fill me in on their opinion of vs 2.oo let me know. I'm working on a new CD and need as much input as possible.
What's my best way to set this machine up to get the most out of it by using the "user keys" and does anybody out there use 'mark' and 'jump' on a regular basis.
I'm glad I found this site. It's good to hear other people's thoughts on such issues.
Best Regards,
W.
