Really superb piece of equipment! A virtual arsenal of digital audio tools. I especially like some of the features Akai doesn't even tell you about. Anyway, I am a big Gary Numan fan and was very impressed to learn from him personally that he did his last album entirely on a pair of these machines. It has become the absolute center of my studio!

Well, first of all After 1 1/3 Years of very Carefull personal Considerations, I've picked the 4 Korg Workstation/Samplers, & 2 Alesis QS as my Modules of choice. However, Since I am Obviously a MIDI user more so than audio, and will be more in the future, I felt I'd Need a Very Big PHRASE CLIPBOARD, Optical Ready(3 In's and 3 Out's), Smpte Ready, Greastest OS Upgrade Possible in future..........Except one thing I Need to Know. Since my choice then is the AKAI MPC 4000LE, does it have a Very CLEAN and HOT Sound, ((Partly) * Mainly * Natural Like). OR, is it Strickly the s6000 Sampler that GREATLY (Intrisically) Posseses that CLEAN & HOT Sound. I Presume the s6000 Powerful sound uses VCA, VCF, and VCO for Great overall sound. AGAIN, even though the AKAI MPC 4k uses Internal Pre--Amps, if I got it right, how, to generally one's Ear is the sound, as to the s6000 unit?? I will be using Sample/Recording at 48khz at 24bit Max, though I know its AS good at 44.1, and the Total of THREE adat In's and Out's is simply so later when I can go for a Tascam MX2424, the Audio of 24 channels of sound will Always Match.. That's to say, as far as I know, I'll will STRICKLY be Transporting, (if that's the word) ALL 24 channels Worth of sound either way, (NO Computer for a Few Years Yet), To the Tascam MX2424, where there's an Option for a DVD drive. I know the Akai Z series has Re-sampling, But I simply CANNOT and WILL Not make No comments about the S series I really personally know nothing about....

S6000 is a superb machine. I used it with USB connected to my G4 with a adatcard. With the MPC4000 and Aksys I own a 768MB sampling monster. I used the HD of the MPC to read and write samples. I used the zipdrive of my s6000 and it works via AKSYS like one big sampler. Editing on my G4 and I don't have to leave my Apple because AKSYS a great remote controller fot the s6000.
If you don't need 24 bit and 96 Khz. The s6000 is a better option than the Z8. The S6000 have almost every in- and output standard. With the large LCD its the best sampler fot it's price this days.
I own the s6000 from day one (v1.0) and have never experience a bug. Now it's on v 2.13 and have got a lot of option from Akai for free. Great support!!! Thnx AKAI

Amon Tobin uses the S6000 as his ONLY piece of gear. Enough said...
