I'm not impressed with the DM-5 at all. It's surprising to see actually, how many of you gave it such a high score. Did most of you write your reviews shortly after purchase?? It freezes like a bitch and has the most limited, pathetic excuse for cymbals and hi-hats I've ever seen! Avoid this thing at all costs!

Eric Moody a part time user from US writes:
The DM5 has a good variety of bass drums and toms, but seems a little

week on snares and high hats. Still, it's got a nice selection of ethnic/weirder

sounds which you don't find on most drum machines. I paid $330 for

mine (Guitar Center, Seattle, WA), which is less than the Boss 660 drum

machine which has approx half as many sounds; if you have a way of triggering

this unit, it beats most drum machines by far (you're paying for the pads on

a drum machine). A good deal for the price (depending on where you buy it)

Johannesen, Trygve a hobbyist user from Norway writes:
In general, the DM5 gives a wide range of high-quality drum samples. The user interface

allows you easily to modify, adjust and change parameters without having to read the

user manual. But occasionaly, the DM5 seems to "block up" somehow, in the middle of a song. I have not been able to sort out this one yet, and it is quite irritating to reboot the drum-machine everytime this happens...

Prole a hobbyist user from Canada writes:
I am not as happy as I thought I would be with the DM5.

Although the sounds are excellent, each pre-set kit has basically

identical sounds minus the kick and snare...and the block up can

be annoying as hades! It's veeeeery easy to use and the interface

is excellent...I was just expecting a little more in variety of sounds.

ben a hobbyist user from USA writes:
This thing will sound just like (or pretty close to) real drumming, in the hands of the right programmer. Velocity mapping, etc. Right now I'm not using it a whole bunch, I'm more into dance stuff so it's 808/909 drums. The DM5 does have a few pretty good samples of those too.
