THe dm5 is a very good studio instrument and live is also alright except when it gets below about 45 degrees f. it screws up and wont trigger until I warm it up with my hands.(Alittle scary when youre about to go on any second!)

Dan Richards a hobbyist user from USA writes:
I've had the D4 for a few years, and got the DM5 a few months ago. The DM5 is amazing! I just love listening to those sounds. I does sound better than the D4, but that's not to knock the D4 at all. They both have a PERMANENT home in my rack. The DM5 sounds are so completely different than the D4 that I can't think of it as an "update" of the D4. It's a whole 'nuther animal! And I wouldn't want to be without either one. I especially love all the ethnic percussion sounds, of which there are tons. With both units I have over 1000 of the best percussion sounds around, and can't imagine why I'd ever need any more percussion stuff.

Brian Beittel a hobbyist user from US - Austin, TX writes:
I bought my DM5 second hand at a Pawn Shop for $175. It seems to be in great shape...although a few things are acting peculiar. All of a sudden my Trigger #1(Hi-Hat open) and Trigger #5(kick) seem to be linked. If I change one...the other changes with it. I'm afraid I will need to reboot to the original factory settings...and I hope that works! Besides that problem...everything seems to work fairly good. The sounds are quite realistic....I use it in our church band. The triggers I use are home built pads...Remo Practice pads with the Radio Shack piezo's buried inside them. Read how to build these on the net. I have less than $300 in my whole system...not bad as long as it continues working.

John Russell a 0 user from USA writes:
I just wanted to say that when I first heard the DM5 in the store, I asked how much it was expecting a very high price. It turns out that is was only 350.00 and regardless of what anyone else says I think that it is an outstanding value for 350.00. It has a high variety of features and a lot of "useable" sounds. There were a few cheezy samples, but what new module doesn't come with a few cheezy samples!!

Tom a professional user from Mass writes:
This is my first drum module. In my opinion I have been living in the dark, I wish I bought one of these along time ago. I think the dm5 is awesome I love it and the sounds are so real, my hat goes off to Alesis for bringing this module to us. ~Tom~
