I love my QSR and will never part with it. Thank God it's not my only synth or I would hate it so much. The Piano's are out of this world, They work very well in my church. I love the drums, gutiars and basses. The QSR does all things well except in the String caterogy. I love my QSR but the Strings just flat out Suck! they don't sound like anything close to what you would think about using in a seq. I have a U220 and a K1m for that. They do a great job. I just recently ordered a Sram card and started using the Expando banks on the Cd. The Strings on the card are at lest passable, more so that the factory presets. There are some nice Maraccato strings patches ( I know I didn't spell that right). Anyway would I buy it again? I probably would. I tested this thing in Mars for Six months before I bought it. ( I've owned mine since June) In all the toying around I never played with the string patches... had I... I might have just saved up for a Jv1080.. but I like my QSR. I'll just be looking for a Jv880 used and then I'll have the best of both worlds.

Well it's not the all round wondersynth some people are looking for, and really it's not much use to the techno crowd, but for everyone else this synth gives enormous bang for the buck. The acoustc type instruments are excellent, including the pianos and organs. The "wierd noises" though are crap, so if you want to make hardcore, try the Audity 2000 for a little bit more cash. All in all an excellent synth for those people playing live, or as an addition for someone who already has an analog screamer. By the way, although the synth already has about 600 sounds, there are at least as many EXTRA free patches hidden away in the Alesis download area as .syx files. Check em out.....

This is a phenominal module for live applications. The eletrical piano combinations and bass instruments are good right out of the box. I midi it up to a korgx2 and a roland mvs-1 module, and this thing really thickens up the sound tremendously. I also own a Roland XP80, and quite frankly, I'll take the horns, drums, pianos and bass of the ALesis qsr64 over the XP80. I am constantly traveling and performing, and have also cut three albums. The Alesis has never failed, and I now view it as indespensable. I plan on adding the TR-rack to my set-up, but I'll still be using the QSR as a main componet. Sorry Alesis but this is a crap product. It's not userfriendly and has very few decent sounds. This module is far from any professional pice of equipment. There are several modules wich is half the price, but 10 times the quality. It's not worth you money at all. I looked forward for this module for a long time, but was really dissapointed after testing it. Glad i never bought it.
The individual sounds are really not up to date, and they are to poor. To few and poor drum kits and sounds, also they prehistoric.
This is clearly yesterdays module, or even the day before yesterday. Go for the SC880 or Trinity TR Rack. They are pro.

That's what I have worry about: "Programs" sounds thin and "weak" in multitimbral -mode. Someone has said that it's better than Roland jv-1080, in some case yes, in other not... I would take surely jv-1080 for MIDI-sequensing and for expansion cabilities, but QSR would be better for performance in stage in MIX-mode. .. quite cheap anyway... So good but so weak...
