Don't expect to sound like the real thing! But for what it does, it does well. Violin up the higher octaves is good, needs a bit of external reverb to get it to liven up though. If you can get it cheap, grab it!

Murder City Devils used one of these when that chick was still their keyboardist. I always wondered what the hell a Quartet was. Now i know its a ARP! But shes not with them anymore and they use some old organ and a Moog Prodigy i think

WONDERFUL!!! I got this thing for only 100 bucks and it's just wicked. This has definitely got the best analog string sound I've heard and it's super cheap. The sound is very similar to the Solina String machine, but it covers a wider variety of string sounds and is slightly richer in tone. It has some brilliant organ and brass sounds....as well as a nice lo-fi sounding piano setting. Two of the sounds can be mized at once...for example: brass/strings...organ/piano. This thing really is a wonderful unit, I love it
