I saw that one review was more about the Eminent strings than the ARP SE. To get a sound more to the Eminent type, look for the Logan String Melody!

cannot beleive people spend a fortune on these machines 500 quid for a solina is madness, hype over actual sound.I have had better string sounds from my jp8000 and the arp quadra blows the solina away.

i had one sold it and bought ( after a while ) a new one! so far i haven't found another analog stringmachine, synthesizer or digital preset that can offer me the transparant and on the same time full/warm stringsound as this solina . ( in fact they were made by eminent, were named solina and later en a deal ARP was allowed to sell the same machine with their name on it! as a result of this deal eminent/solina was allowed to build a combination instrument called the solina stringSYNTHESIZER consisting of the string and an arp explore, which most probably is the one on the picture mentioned by RONALD) the sound+ the intern chorus due to its transparance easily fits in a mix, when send through another analog synth ( it has trig out) you get the best out of it i think (pink floyed/ambient like). on the moment available in the netherlands is a buildin kit which provides it with a FULLpolyfonic midiIN. mine has been modified this way and i can advice anyone to do this as long as the kits are available( costs something like $130, summary:a (dutch) classic

The photo is wrong, it shows a (very rare) String Synthesizer.
