I finally got a black/gold Odyssey and I must say I'm impressd. It sounds really really but not the half as good as my Minimoog from 1972. I bought the Odyssey just because of the modulation possibillitys. Something that the Minimoog lacks but the Odyssey never beat the Mini in warmth, fattness and playabillity!!

Keith a part-time user from England writes:
The odyssey is the best monosynth that I have ever played. This includes all of the small Moog monos. Its sound creation abilities are huge and varied. The sound is fat and powerful. Great modulation possibilities. This synth has a highly distinctive sound which stands out from any sound track or mix. Contrary to popular myth, there aren't many of these about. ARP only made about 3000, even less.A lot of gone to the knackers yard over the years. The price they fetch is very reasonable, especially when compared to the ridiculas prices asked for the MiniMoog and Prodigy (progigy....$800????). If you really want a really classic monosynth, this is the one for you. ARP synths lack the unquestioning loyalty that Moog synth owners bestow on there instuments. However, they are highly individual and represent an equally important position in the history of musical synthisis.

This is the first synth I ever got and it is one of the coolest things I've ever seen to this day. The range of tonal possibilities is endless. I even use it for drums. Its specialty is definitely sound effects and bass, but it kicks for leads as well. If you see one of these, get it!! You'll be glad you did.

i bought the goldfaced yesterday. this one has a secret. people would kill each other for this arp. it's ten times a better choice then a minimoog. superb instrument that reminds me of those wonderfull santana synthsolos in the early 70's. i'm thinkin of buying another one or two. arp rocks!!!

This was the only real rival to the Minimoog. Some people say it has a thinner sound, but thats down to personal opinion. One of the all time great mono synths. Keep away from the early models, they are very difficult to repair due to the circuit boards being encased in resin! WAVEVIOLATOR
