This Thing is great. If you feel you need the digital input and the four track sequencer(which I have come to love), This thing is well worth The 500 dollars I paid for it. The only thing I dont like is the lack of a step sequencer where you can go in and put the notes in individually but this is a sampler and a damn good one at that. The quantize function on this machine is unbelievable, you can feed it any offbeat trash and bamm you get a phat drumbeat. This really is the ultimate tool. The sound quality is superb I rely on it to beef up some of my analog drum sounds from the playstation 1 MTV music generator. the preset sounds are pretty much trash. BUt that will only inspire you to get some decent samples. And with the addition of the sample chop function The possibilites for new beats and breaks are endless. This unit is a little pricey but youll see where the extra money went. just give it some time.

It's a great little machine. So where to begin? recording a sample is really easy and also the editing is great. You have a big scream, you can zoom in and cut very precisly. The efx are great and if you want to use multiple efx, you can resample internly. You can expand the memory with smartmedia flashcart (max 128mb, that's about one hour music) and import wav. files. The only thing that sucks are the internal sounds and the sequencer (ex, you can't change the volume of a sample during playback) But the main reason why i love it is this. I play techno sets with a friend (dj) so the only thing i have to hook up is my sp505. He mixes my songs with records. The great thing is i can change the bpm on the fly so the tempo of my prerecorded loops match the record wich is playing. It's small, it fits right in my backpack. I stuffed it full with wav.files, all loops. So i can play my songs very easily, i just have to chain the patterns and aply efx and the crowd goes wild. I wouldn't suggest it as a "sampler" but rather as a cheap fun performance tool. I don't give it a 5 because of the sequencer. So i give it a 4

I just got this machine yesterday and its quiet fat. It has a nice compact apperance, its controls are clearely laid out, its not that heavy duty interms of contruction build quality but its passable. The on-board tones are wack but its sample quality and editing features are top notch for a machine this size. Pro users wont be impressed by this machine and will no doubt look down on people that use the machine. However if ur a bedroom music maker of the hip-hop variety this is just the ticket to allow u to make good quality(sound-wise0 music, and it will fit in ur backpack too!!
