sebounet a hobbyist user from switzerland writes:
Sounds of the DR 660 are highly editable, internal sequencer is pleasant. However, this little bomb is better for "classic" rythmns than for techno-rave-rap-acid rythmns, where DR 660 lacks modern/punchy sounds.

the REVEREND a hobbyist user from canada writes:
I HAVE OWNED THE BOSS DR-660 FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND LOVE IT, IT PROBABLY THE MOST USED INSTRUMENT I OWN. TRUE THE SOUNDS AND SOUND QUALITY ARE A LITTLE WEAK BY TODAYS STANDARDS BUT I FIND THE INTERFACE GREAT FOR CONTROLLING OTHER SOUND SOURCES THROUGH THE MIDI OUT. YOUVE GOT 16 TOUCH SENSITIVE PADS THAT CAN BE LINKED UP TO TWO DIFFERENT SOUNDS WITH A TOUCH OF THE PAD BANK BUTTON.THE DATA DIAL IS GREAT FOR CHANGING TEMPO OR PITCH ON THE FLY. THE ROLL BUTTON IS ABSOLUTLY NESSESSARY FOR ANY INDUSTRIAL BAND TO MAKE THOSE MACHINE-GUN DRUMS LIVE. IM GOING TO RATE IT AT A 4 JUST BECAUSE THE SOUNDS COULD USE SOME UPDATING AND A SAMPLING FUNCTION WOULD MAKE IT PERFECT. WITHOUT HAVING THE MANUAL I HAVE FIGURED OUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE INDIVIDUAL OUTS I CAN PAN THE PADS OVER TO "INDIV" BUT IT DOESNT SEEM TO ACTIVATE THEM. AM I MISSING A STEP? CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME?

Gregger from Aliso Viejo writes:
A great little drum machine alaways wanted one after demoing one at Guitar Center back '92 finally bought one 3 years ago for 150.00. Creates some covincing TR-808 & 909 emulations. Especially if you tweak the kick drum with a little sustain. Create some patterns and link them together for song in a snap. The individual outs are awsome for processing those TR kicks and snares. Have no complaints other than a back lit display would of been nice. Good luck trying to read the display at any angle other than right over the top of the unit.

Mikefoundahobby a hobbyist user from Holland writes:
I had a 660 for 2-3 years and I like it very much.

But what what the machine is best at is features not soundquality.

If you can't relate to this check out:

Roland R-8 Linndrums Oberheim DMX Yamaha RY-30

Not a bad machine at all, only nice for a good price (sub $150+manual+psu)
