Ok a cool synth that they just made cooler, the ctk-611 just came out which is identical to the ctk601 except it has a lit up lcd, which makes it the best board for the money....get one it is cool, for 200 US at least.

I play in a start up band, and the Casio CTK-601 is probably the most fun to play on. For being in a band, the keyboard has to sound pretty good, but this one sounds great! My favorite and most used sounds are 000 (grand piano), 030 (distortion guitar) 016 and 018 mix (gives a pretty good Hammond B3 sound), and 081 (sawtooth wave). Everyone in the band loves to play this keyboard! (Even the guys who have no keyboard experience whatsoever!) This little wonder gives 110% all the time.

Its the best buy for that price, The synth sounds are excellent, Versatile to the core, Simply the best in its range. I use it in combo with a couple of PC sound cards, It blows your mind, but weak amplification. Just plug it into your stereo and its full fledged.

I just got the Concertmate 990 which is the same as the Casio CTK-601 and it is to say the least great. I was usin a Casio CTK-530 before I got this one and quite simply put the 601 blows it away. I have no regrets at all in buying this synthesizer. By the way, does anyone know if there are any differences between the Concertmate 990 and the Casio CTK-601? The description is the same and the picture is almost identical, I was just wondering if there is anything different between them.
