This is the first keyboard I ever got, received it as a Christmas gift when I was 4 back in 1990. Just recently, I dug it out from the closet after years of not using it, add it stills works just a well. I found it really good for brainstorming synth riffs and eventually decided to run the 1/8" stereo output into Apple's Logic DAW via Apogee hardware. Upon applying reverbs, eq's, stereo spreads and modulation effects to what was coming out of this sweet little keyboard, I really got some really sweet sounds. I plan on definitely using for electronica based music fo' sho'. It has this gnarly noise to it that comes out whenever it sends signals out, so its great for nailing a low fi synth sort of sound.

heyo---bought this with included wallwart for three bucks at a thrift store---amazing sounds when you pump 'em thru an amp and effects---even some of the beats are ok---it works with batteries (5 aa), so you can funk it up anywhere- and forget the labelled titles of sounds, just remember the numbers---i also have these casios: an sk-1, a ct360, and two cz101s---all are quality synthesizers that operate on batteries---i think i'll set up on the sidewalk down by the university and see if i can't busk a few $$$

im gonna give it a 5 i got it from my parends back in 1990 and remember playing hours with it. i basically learned to play keyboards on it. i remember putting it on synth-bass 54 then pressing a low key and putting a string under it so it kept playing, then putting it to another number and the low note on 54 would still play while i played melodies with another sound ^_^ i forgot i had it till about 6 months ago when i found it laying on a radiator in my house with such a thick layer of dust on it u could hardly see the keys. i just put new batteries in and it worked! everyhting all buttons keys sounds still like its brand new and for that and for it still having really cool sounds that i use again now im giving it a 5 :)

Obviously not a keyboard targeted for professionals, this little vintage CASIO actually hasa lot of potential for producers and analog enthusiasts. i received mine as a Christmas present when i was 10 and it thrilled me for a few years. The drums and effects seemed so amazing at the time, and i used to plug into my father's amp and guitar pedals to create synth-rock madness! But as i got older and ear for music improved, i realized the units many limitations, particularly 4-note maximum simultaneous play, the annoying whoosh noises at the ends of most sounds, the nonrealism of many instruments (though #17 clarinet is actually a decent guitar noise! and the oboe is a better bass than the basses!). No sampling or programming of course, and no MIDI. But that's okay...this makes a great noise-box when attached to more modern effects devices or run through computers. After 15 years, i am still using this "Tone Bank" to make music, now for retro noises rather than the elaborate efforts to duplicate Depeche Mode and New Order from my younger days! Definitely worth playing around with if you find a functional cheap unit.

Bought this at a second hand dealer near my house. Never thought something plastic could actually have such effects. It's old-school because of the 80's samples, but I just love the laser beam sound. I've never been happier with my SA-20
