Tavys Ashcroft a part-time user from USA writes:
I give it a 3 because though it really is a toy, I got mine for 5 bucks and had way more than five dollars worth of fun with it. Almost as cool as the Rapman (which has the pitch shifter input, rad). The 'Super Accompany' rhythms are really fun to record onto a computer and edit. That's what I did with it. Some of the voices are downright bizzare, and I found some great uses for the sounds it made. I think Flossie and the Unicorns used this quite a bit for puppet show sound effects.

Now I couldn't honestly give the thing a 5 since it's not editable, but I sure had a lot of fun with mine. After I made a track with it I gave it away in a noise show contest to a visiting noise guy from Japan. I hope he's having fun with it, too.

To hear an mp3 of what the Super Accompany Funk patch sounds like after a whole lot of editing (if you don't like noise, skip the first minute, but that ruins all the fun), go to http://www.crunchpodmedia.com/crunch12.html scroll down to disc 2, it's the Big Tex track, third to last.

If casio had made an SA series keyboard with MIDI abilities, I'd be happy. If only I could program my own dorky rhythms on that thing. Oh well, it's in a better place now. Japan.
