I have enjoyed many keyboards and as far as a simple board with some good qualities it is head to head with the vss-30. Falling short only to it's oversampling capabilities. But the memory of the sk-5 keeps it on my lap. Another plus is the drum lines that are better than any other sk series.I have collected for years and I cant belive what the prices are like on ebay. bottom line if you like messin around with samples and cold crushin' beats dont be afraid to buy it. if it has missing knob or battery covers you can get a good deal on ebay and not be afraid to keep it on your couch at the ready. batteries always sound better and five double a's last this board along time.

This thing is the shizzle! Don't pass one of these up. The sounds are cool, the samples have a great quality, and the preset beats rock! Straight out of the 80's. A MIDI in kit can be ordered for $50 from www.highlyliquid.com. Just might be better than your stupid Korg Triton!

Ben Kronberg a hobbyist user from usa writes:
the sk5 is one of the coolest instruments out there. it is simple portable versatile lo-fi and hi-tek at the same time.

i fell in love with the sk 1 but when I discovered the sk 5 I felt like i was cheating on my sk 1, but it felt great.

the # of mouth to mic effects are only limited by your imagination. i like to plug in my drum machine or guitar and sample those suckers as well as found tape samples from the thrift. loop and reverse - dang i'm gettin excited just thinking about it.

I've played live shows with it and it translates really well to the bigger sound of a live venue.

if you have one - don't sell it - get to know it and it will be your freind 4ever.
