Steve B a hobbyist user from UK writes:
Here's a neat trick to try if you can find a VL-Tone. If you open up the case, it's easy to solder a couple of (very thin) wires on the underside of the board, I think), across one of the One Key Play buttons. Bring them out to a socket, (I've put mine bottom right of the speaker grille), and you can then trigger each note of your sequence with a simple pushbutton switch or footpedal. Beats a Taurus anyday (NOT). Well, at least you can trigger bass sequences or whatever on demand. Incidentally, what a daft oversight to make the sequence stop after only four repeats. If Casio had had the foresight to make it loop until stopped, there would have been an explosion of Tangerine Dream type ostinato based music back in the early 80s. Wouldn't that have been a treat?

I just bought mine for 5 and I love it. The sounds are a bit dodgy but the adsr makes it all worth while and the rhythms are superb (I like samba)

DJ Slipper a hobbyist user from America writes:
This is definitely an under-rated synth. I get more use out of this than of my prophet 600. i love the rock 1 and rock 2 rhythms. this has been used by a lot of old skool rap stars from the 1985 era. words cannot describe this machine. if you are a cheese freak and love the 80's then this belongs with your colection right next to your flying lizard records. you can make your own sounds with the built in adsr as well as do some multiplcation in between your recording sessions with the missing persons. i found mine for 26$ and it cane with a case, adapter, and manual. it looked virtually brand new! i know i got a good deal and i wouldn't expect to see many in that condition. if you do see one that is in the same condition , it would be worth paying up to 45$ . This is for die hard collectors or for the person who has everything . This isn't for everyone but personally I love mine .

Ian Wilson a hobbyist user from South African in USA writes:
This is the ultimate cheesy synth, with the claim to fame being it's use by Human League on their album "Dare" (used in "Get Carter" and "Open Your Heart") and the song "Da, Da, Da" by Trio. This is the ultimate cheesy synth. The specs say it is analog/subtractive. Not so, it is totally digital, with no filters or anything of that kind - a bit like an organ with ADSR :-) Can't do much with it, but great for a toy and messing about with.

mike turner a hobbyist user from bristol england writes:
A wonderful device is the VL-Tone (as it sez above the display). Extremely cheezy especially is the Piano voice . my friends children spend hours playing with spare VL-Tone ive got. I personally love the truly authentic drums it has in the rhythm section. Also does anyone remember the smaller pocket version in brushed aluminium, with Peizo speaker)
